When TENCO began exporting industrial sawn lumber into South East Asia in 1990, sawmills in New Zealand were still calling it “Box Grade”. It was considered of little value by saw-millers and buyers. We introduced the names “Industrial Grade” and Miniflitch” to enhance it’s profile and price potential to sellers and buyers. Both names are now the standard terminology in the trade.
TENCO has built it’s business from small beginnings till today where we are a very large supplier of New Zealand logs and sawn lumber to buyers throughout Asia.
At TENCO we believe (and practice) that honest and straightforward dealings are the right of those who deal with us.
We expect that when we conduct business with product suppliers, service providers and buyers of our goods and services that they will have an experience that is as mutually satisfying as it is for us - one they'll wish to repeat by dealing with us again and again.
We are proud to sell New Zealand Radiata pine to the world.
Our business is founded upon marketing this versatile wood to a wide range of customers throughout the Asian countries of the Pacific Rim.
TENCO is managed mainly by highly trained foresters with graduate degrees in forestry. Our operations and marketing staff are experts in all aspects of forestry. As an equal opportunity employer we pride ourselves in recognising merit wherever it comes from.
We employ people in management, administration and marketing from several countries: Thailand, South Africa, Japan, Philippines and China.
Our back office staff are highly skilled and second to none in managing letters of credit and preparing shipping documents to exacting standards.
TENCO believes in sustainable business and promotes responsible forest management. In recognition of this we are qualified to hold the internationally recognised Chain of Custody Certification. This verifies that our logs and lumber carrying the FSC™ label has been grown, processed and shipped in compliance with the strict requirements of the FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council).
FSC™ certification allows our customers to label their products accordingly, and gives end users the choice to support responsibly managed forests.
TENCO is a “can do” company that is focused on sustainable relations with customers, product suppliers and company staff. A key driver of this is that company ownership is held by the management, and sustaining and enhancing value for stakeholders is paramount to growth and success of all involved.
We believe that our customers and product suppliers are important stakeholders in our business and we always look to ensure that our success is their success.
